Mark Wilhelm, a retired pharmacist, got his first training as a portrait photographer, working at a portrait studio at The University Square Mall, in Tampa, Florida, while studying education and pre-pharmacy at the University of a South Florida. After acquiring his first Nikon 35mm SLR, Yashica Mat, and flash, he added free-lance portrait and wedding photography to his part-time photography vocation. This income and the GI Bill, plus working summers and holidays at Belk-Lindsey, helped earn Mark his first degree in education.
While attending The University of Florida College of Pharmacy, Mark was one of two photographers on the year book staff. Through his work with Year book photographer, Steve Murphy, Mark obtained a position with Pro Football Weekly, photographing Tampa Bay Buc's home games for three years.
Having grown up in Tucson, Arizona, and making several trips between Arizona and Florida, Mark began to take a real interest in landscape and nature photography.
Today he has retired in Clermont, Florida and continues to photograph landscapes and cityscapes close to home with an occasional local portrait. Among his favorite stomping grounds close to home are: Clermont, Minneola, Winter Garden, Tavares, and the many lakes in Lake County.
